Overview

The Leopard 50 was drawn by Simonis Voogd Design and built by Robertson and Caine in South Africa. She took the 2019 Cruising World Boat of the Year award in the charter category, largely on the strength of the forward cockpit and watertight door arrangement the Leopard range pioneered.

Her hull is vacuum bagged and resin infused E-glass over a balsa core, with carbon infused ring frames where the loads concentrate. Four en-suite staterooms take up to ten guests, with the master aft to starboard.

Twin Yanmar diesels give roughly 1,100 nautical miles of motoring range, which alongside her sail plan makes her a genuine long distance cruiser rather than a coastal boat.
